Rated 3 out of 5 by photojo from Ergonomic Keyworks for Compromised Hands I got this keyboard when I got my new Mac Pro Computer. My old Mac and Logitech ergonomic keyboard worked beautifully.
Didn't need t anything. But with all the upgrades on the new computer and monitor, all my shortcut keys and many other functions no longer worked. I was told I would need a new keyboard. I checked, and checked. Ergonomic keyboards just aren't available anymore except for this one Microsoft that would work. After much changing including flatening it, I have figured out many, but far from all the short cuts I was use to using.
I am a photographer so I need them. I expect this keyboard to serve me for many years to come. Rated 5 out of 5 by Chris from Most comfortable design for big hands I have been using the wave style keyboards for 30+ years. I have large hands and the standard style keyboards are just too small.
While I also have and use a Logitech wireless wave keyboard on another computer, the design of the MS keyboard is easier for me to type on. I did used a MS wave keyboard 15+ years ago but replaced it with a generic wave keyboard because the normal retail price for the MS keyboard is too high for a wired keyboard or/and I could not find one. The difference between the MS keyboard and many of the generics is not that big, but a recent sale triggered the purchase to replace an old wireless keyboard that was dying.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Jose Sanchez from Great keyboard for a while I have this same keyboard both at work and at home. I absolutely love to type on it. The keys work well and the ergonomic shape makes it very easy and (for lack of a better word) natural.
It has a lot of extra buttons on it, but I don't use them. Unfortunately, the two I have now are my third and forth ones. The first one was for work. Demonophobia game download. You would have to push the space bar with two fingers or it would misalign and not go down like it should.
The second one I had was for home and the c key didn't work (as you can see, no problems with the c with the new one). Overall this is a fantastic keyboard. I bought two more even after knowing the problems. Rated 5 out of 5 by HappyTypist from Does what it says This is my second MS Ergonomic 4000; I spilled water on my first, which caused some keys to not work, but that is my fault. I considered Kinesis briefly after seeing some onsets of wrist troubles, but decided to try this much less expensive keyboard, and have been very happy with it. The tingling in my wrists has largely disappeared.
The keyboard also works with Linux fairly well. I have disassembled my first one, and it is very easy to clean. The only downside is that the spacebar is bit stiff to touch, and is very noisy, but I can tolerate it so I am giving it a full set of stars.
(Apologies to my coworkers.). Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from comfortable keyboard I just got a new laptop computer, and as the keyboard is fairly small, decided to buy a freestanding keyboard for home use. I had owned one of the first generation Microsoft ergonomic boards, and once I got broken in to the different way it felt, really liked it. The new generation boards are even better. Lots of handy keys, usable either as F keys or as specific task keys, very easy to use. My only gripe about this keyboard is since I use a straight keyboard 8 hours a day at work, when I come home at night there is some readjustment for the old fingers.
The built in soft wrist rest is nice, too. The 4000 comes with a plastic keyboard lift, which I don't use. It seems to be made for people who have a keyboard drawer that is lower than their desktop so they can have their arms in a neutral position to type. All in all, I would, and have, recommend this keyboard to anyone looking for a more comfortable way to type.and am thinking about investing in one for my work computer at my own expense, so I can bwe comfortable there, too.
And iCloud keeps your Reminders and Notes up to date across all your devices. Jot down your thoughts with the new Notes app. Mac os x mountain lion torrent. ICloud * Documents in the Cloud lets you create and edit your documents on your Mac, iPhone, and iPad. * The new Reminders app makes managing tasks easy. Rated 1 out of 5 by The Orange Cat Guy from Worst keyboard I've ever owned Less than a year ago, I purchased this keyboard as a replacement for a Natural Multimedia Keyboard. The key configuration is significantly different, but the more significant problem is that the printing has worn off many of the keys: E, R, S, D, C, O, L, and M are essentially mystery keys. I'm a touch typist, but I still find this unacceptable. I must use a USB keyboard because my current computer has no PS/2 ports, but this keyboard is despicable. Why couldn't Microsoft have simply converted the Natural Media Keyboard to USB and left well enough alone?
Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from Perfect keyboard for touch typists I have used the natural keyboards by Microsoft for years and I am very impressed with this model. The elevated wrist area creates a natural typing environment and forces your hands to be in a position that can reduce the effects of repetitive stress disorders.
It is not at all natural to sit in front of a computer all day but since today, most of us do, this is a very good keyboard for the health of your wrists, hands and shoulders. I generally do not use the advanced button assignments but there are a lot with this model, I think I may play around a bit.

Never Spilled A Drop On It And I've Even Dropped It From One Assignment To Another Over 2 Decades Of CADD Drafting & Engineering Design. Still In Perfect Shape. You Must Drink So Much Coffee That You Shake. Cons: Umm Nothing I Didn't Like. Gonna Make My New Office Buy Me A New One.
Mine Is At Home. Other Thoughts: It Even Helped Me Get Rid Of My Carpal Tunnel Along With Using A Big LogiTech TrackMarble. Perfect Pairing Of Tools. Pros: Very ergonomic. I have a standing desk at work, and the wrist rest attachment tilts the keyboard backwards for a very comfortable typing position.
I actually have a second one for home, when I work remotely. It's works well enough for gaming, but I actually went out and bought a mechanical w/ brown switches for my gaming PC at home, and it's a better experience. Cons: Keycap lettering does wear off a bit, especially WASD if you play a lot of FPS. The one at my office has help up a lot better tho Other Thoughts: Great for office work (especially if you have a standing desk), but I'd recommend a mechanical if you're a little serious about PC gaming.
Pros: - Very comfortable, wrist pad is nice - Plenty of extra function keys - Parenthesis above the number pad is great for programming Cons: - Spacebar is a little wonky if you don't press down close to the center Other Thoughts: I used this at home for a number of years until I knocked a drink onto it. Decided to replace it with a different ergonomic keyboard, and I still regret it. I absolutely love having the four extra keys above the numpad, they definitely help speed up programming (in C-based languages, anyway) since you can just reach up and open or close parenthesis instead of having to move your hand and make an extra keystroke. Perhaps not the best for gaming, as the spacebar needs to be pressed closer to the center, which may take a little while to get used to. Key faces do seem to wear pretty quickly in some situations (the A on my old one was completely gone by the time it died), but this doesn't seem to apply across the board (no pun intended). Currently use one daily at work (as does 90% of my department), haven't had any issues with it personally.
Definitely my favorite keyboard to date. The following guidelines apply to all product categories unless otherwise indicated within specific categories.
